Winky was a 12-year-old ghost that lived in the building of the Ulster County Review and was friends with Shiki. He died in the 19th century to early 20th century after being trampled by a horse.
Biography[]
Life[]
Winky was born in the Hudson Valley in the mid-1800s to early 1900s during the Gilded Age or the Progressive Era making him from a similar time period to Hetty. He worked as a paper boy up until his death at the age of twelve. This happened after he was hit by a horse and crushed under its hooves when it went over him. He died and became a ghost, meeting Shiki in the building that would later become the Ulster County Review. He lived in this building as a ghost in the printer room.
Death[]
Winky and Shiki are the only ghosts known to live in the Ulster County Review Building. They stayed in the printer room and moved about the building when interesting new people were around but mostly didn't bother watching boring people such as the editor Lewis or the other normal editors or writers. When Sam visits to meet with the editor, Lewis, Shiki and Winky realize she can see them. He successfully guesses that she is from the city.
