"The Baby Bjorn" is the sixth episode of Season 2 in the American sitcom Ghosts and its 24th episode overall. It premiered on November 3, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Sam meets a Viking ghost at the Farnsbys' house who has an unexpected connection to Thorfinn. Also, Trevor devises a new method for the ghosts to trade favor from.
Plot[]
Sasappis enters the TV room and asks if Jay will move seats so he can sit in the sunbeam on his chair. Jay obliges. The other ghosts file in and start bidding on the seat with "back rubs." This is the form of currency that the ghosts use to barter. Hetty offers a whopping 100 back rubs and Sas gives her the chair with the sunbeam. We learn that Hetty has the most back rubs out of any of the ghosts because she never cashes them in. Sam, confused, asks why they use back rubs and they explain that they cannot use any physical means of tracking wealth. Trevor says that because Hetty has grown such a wealth of back rubs, she can outbid anyone for anything.
Sam and Jay attend a yard sale at the Farnsby's. We see Henry Farnsby's ghostly mother, who seems extremely disappointed in her son. Sam spots a Viking ghost and heads inside to question him. Jay spots some upside-down pineapple figurines and begins checking them out. He remarks on their upside-down position and the ghost of Mrs. Farnsby declares it is because her son is a swinger and calls him a pervert. Jay of course cannot hear her. Henry comes up and covertly questions Jay to see if they are also swingers. Jay thinks he is being asked if he likes fruit art and says he does but Sam loves it. Mr. Farnsby invites them to a swinger's party. Jay does not pick up on the subtext.
Growing tired of Hetty's incomparable wealth, Trevor plans to undermine the back rub system using TV time. Sam speaks to the Viking ghost, Bjorn, and learns that he is Thor's son who came looking for him after his death. Sam tells Thor and he is initially ecstatic. Thor says he was looking forward to hearing his son say “father” when he returned home, but he never made it home. Trevor bought everyone's TV time. He then tried to sell it back to them at a markup to catch up to Hetty. Sam finds a way for Thor and Bjorn to speak to each other. Hetty thwarts Trevor's plan.
Thor finds out his son married a Danish woman and is inconsolable. He decides he doesn't want to talk to Bjorn. Sam and Jay head over to the Farnsby's house. The Farnsbys are having a swinger party and excited Jay and Sam showed up. Sam excuses herself to go find Bjorn. She sets Bjorn up at the window and Isaac and Flower try to convince Thor to talk to his son and Thor goes to tell him he is disowned for who he married. Trevor is lonely and Hetty convinces him that even if he gets rich he won't be less alone. He gives up his TV time.
Jay is in the middle of a gathering of the Farnsby's when they begin the “festivities” leaving Jay confused. Thor is about to disown Bjorn when he calls him father. After wanting to hear that for so long Thor cannot bring himself to say anything about his wife and he tells him he loves him. Jay and Sam make an abrupt exit from the party and Thor and Bjorn reconnect.

Historical notes[]
- Though Bjorn worships the Norse gods like his father, the names of his wife (Alma) and sons (Magnus and Lars) imply they were Christian. This is consistent with Christianity becoming established in Scandinavia around Bjorn's lifetime.
- Thor could be mistaken in his assumption that Bjorn's wife was a Dane because of these names alone. When Thor left Norway in the 1000s, the names would be much more common in Denmark, which became Christian in 965. However, in later times all three names were commonly used in Scandinavia.
