Roland Givorant is the ghost of a politician. He appears in the French sitcom Ghosts and is portrayed by Fred Testot.

Biography[]

Roland was a corrupt politician involved in many scandals. In 1979 he participated in a diplomatic mission that helped end the Chadian Civil War, and conveniently, also secured a blood diamond deal for one of his friends.

He died in an orgy at Mérudeaux Castle, and according to one press front page of the time, this incident left his family in shame. A Charlie Hebdo-esque newspaper depicted Roland's death as a result of erotic asphyxiation performed by a woman named Ursula. However, it could be inaccurate, as it also depicted Roland wearing nothing but a night robe, while his ghost is fully dressed except for lacking pants.

In 2025 he was dismayed to discover that "Google", which he mistook for a digital encyclopedia, included no information on his political career, only his death. He asked Alison Cardinet to contact the "makers of Google" so they would also include his achievements, but she informed him that this couldn't be done as it was in the internet, and therefore "in every house, everywhere".[1]

Roland knew the neighbors of the late Antoinette de Mérudeaux in life, and is aware that the wife is often at the casino, because she is a gambler and also has a long-time affair with a worker there. Alison uses this knowledge to shame her and pressure them into forfeiting a 50,000 thousand euro fee for right of pass in their land that the husband had conned Nabil Ben Mabrouk into signing.[2]

Ghost Power[]

With great effort, Roland is capable of moving physical objects with the tip of his pointing finger, such as cups, vases, or the keys of a laptop.

Appearance[]

Roland is a middle aged man with short beard, medium hair, and sunglasses. He wears a two-piece suit and tie, boxers, high socks and shoes, but is missing pants.

Personality[]

Roland is proud of his political career despite being corrupt and sleazy, denying only his worst excess (his death at an orgy) half-heartedly and being more concerned about the fact that people don't also remember the better stuff he did. He is also an open misogynist, casually referring to women as "animals".

Trivia[]

  • He's the first trouser-less ghost in the franchise to have boxers on.
  • He names Samantha Fox as his "Free Pass", same as Julian.
