Ramshead Manor is the property that Kate inherits from her great-uncle Alfred. It is haunted by various ghosts who have died on its grounds over the last two centuries.

History[]

The mansion is located in a remote area of Australia, described as being "in the middle of nowhere."[1] It belongs to the town of Larkinell.[2]

In the early 1800s, Gideon mended the river on the Royal Navy ship Salamanca to found a settlement in the area, which was already inhabited by indigenous peoples. A small tower house was built on the grounds where Ramshead Manor would later be built, serving as Gideon's seat of power. In 1815, Gideon was killed during an indigenous uprising. His former shipmate, Gerard Larkin, assumed control of the colony, which was given the name Larkinell and inaccurately honored him as its founder.[2]

By the 1850s, the tower house had grown into Ramshead Inn, and gold mines had been discovered nearby. In later times, it was briefly a brothel, and a pub owned by Eileen. In 1895 the place burned down.[3]

By the early 20th century, new rooms and structures had been added onto the existing inn to become Ramshead Manor.[4] Miranda's father contributed at least partly to the renovations by demolishing Eileen's pub and adding the master bedroom which Kate and Sean stay in.[5]

In the 1980s, it was acquired by Lindy Darwin-Paul's boyfriend Dale and she moved in with him until her death.[6] In the 1990s, the biking gang "Savage Guardian" had a meth lab and a club in the property. According to Satan, they soundproofed the place so the neighbors wouldn't hear the screaming of their game nights, karaoke, yahtzee, murder mysteries, and real murders.

According to Gideon, 29 people died in Ramshead Manor over the years, but 17 moved onto the afterlife. These included people "sucked off" (going to Heaven) and "going down" (to Hell).[7] The last person to die on the grounds was Kate's hoarder great-uncle Alfred, who was crushed by falling objects and was then sucked off.

  • In real life, the manor is known as Woodbridge House. It has been used most recently as a museum and restaurant for tourists.
    • Only the exterior scenes are filmed at Woodbridge because the manor's interior could potentially be damaged by the film crew and equipment. The inside scenes were filmed at ABC Studios in Perth.
