"Lucy" is a recurring character in Series 3 of Ghosts. She first appears in A Lot to Take In when she arrives at Button House, claiming to be Alison Cooper's half-sister, having recognised the photograph of Alison's father from her TV interview in The Bone Plot.
Biography[]
Lucy is first introduced in A Lot To Take In when she arrives at Button House on Mike's first day of work, quickly introducing herself as Alison's half sister. Although both Fanny and Julian immediately suspect her of being a confidence trickster, Alison is overjoyed to discover she has a living relative, only realising the implications in I Love Lucy when her solicitor points out that an older half-sister may have a prior claim to inherit Button House.
Eventually Lucy puts Alison's mind at rest by explaining that she has no wish to take the house away from her, but in Part Of The Family she turns up, claiming to have lost her savings to a romance scam. Alison and Mike agree to loan her some of their savings, but her story begin to unravel when The Captain recognises that the background of Lucy's photograph of her father is not where she says it is. Julian explains how photographs can be faked, and Fanny realises that the image of Lucy's "father" is an exact mirror image of the one Alison had shown on TV.
The ghosts manage to alert Alison to the deception and she and Mike confront her with the evidence. Realising she has been rumbled, she leaves, telling Alison not to take her deception personally, and that she's not her first victim. However, Alison and Mike have Lucy's bank account, a photo of her, and her name (as mentioned by Alison, this could possibly not be her real name, but it doesn't matter). Alison and Mike contact the police, and presumably with all the evidence, Lucy would have been arrested.
