"Jay's Friends" is the third episode of Season 2 in the American sitcom Ghosts and its 21st episode overall. It premiered on October 13, 2022.
Synopsis[]
Sam becomes alarmed when the ghosts suggest Jay's new friends may be part of a cult run by a charismatic leader named Micah. Also, Pete changes his attitude after Sasappis criticizes his unceasing cheeriness.
Plot[]
We learn that business is picking up around the B&B. Jay arrives home and tells Sam he met a group of friends and played a game of basketball. Since the B&B is fully operational, the ghosts are sharing rooms. Pete and Sas are bunked together and Sas is finding it had to deal with Pete's constant cheer. Sas requests that Pete is less Cheery when he is around. Jay's new friend group comes over to Woodstone to watch some TV. The "leader" of the group, Micha, convinces Jay to begin using herbal "cure" patches. It becomes increasingly clear that this is some sort of cult. Sam hears about the patches from Trevor, who is extremely concerned that they are scammers, in some sort of pyramid scheme. Sam brings the group snacks and covertly questions them. After finding out more, Flower excitedly exclaims that its not a pyramid scheme, but a cult. The members live and work together selling their patches. Sam tells Jay, who is initially skeptical. Jay states that they need to give Micha a shot because he is really "helping them out" by giving them ten boxes of the patches to sell. Jay is quickly getting roped in.
Sas goes into his room to find a forcedly unpleasant Pete. Pete says that he won't be doing anything nice anymore and that he will be joyless from here on out. Pete was hoping change Sass's mind but was unsuccessful. Micha has brough his followers to Woodstone Mansion to do yoga. Jay finds him and asks if everyone just works together. Micha responds that it is not only a business but a community and a way of life. He then says that they will live forever and that he himself is 741 years old. Jay begins to get skeptical.
Flower tells Alberta about a time that her brother tried to save her from a cult and the cult banning him from the property and forbidding her from seeing him. Flower seems to think her brother was in the wrong but Alberta tells her that no one should make you chose between them and your family. This seems sway Flower a bit.
Jay rushes to Sam to tell her that it is definitely a cult. Sam and Jay rush downstairs to confront Micha, only to find him and his followers moving in. Micha explains that in the contract for the boxes of patches they were going to sell, there was a clause legally allowing them to move in. Flower tells them that the most foolproof way to break up a cult is for an outsider to sleep with the leader. Sam shuts this idea down quickly. Isaac suggest reasoning and treats of a legal battle. Sam decides this the best course of action. Pete is uncharacteristically pessimistic during this conversation.
Alberta suggests they track down Flower's brother. Flower says he had been Murdered In Action in Vietnam, MIA. Trevor explains that KIA means killed in action and MIA means missing in action. This means that there is a chance that her brother is alive. Trevor and Alberta decide to look him up and find out.
Sam and Jay try to reason with the cult, pointing out that they probably don't want to spend months in court fighting over it. Micha responds "What's a few months when were gonna live forever?" Sam decides to try pointing out how much living forever wouldn't be so nice. Micha says that they're not gonna break them apart and even with lawyers involved, they would be indoctrinated in a few months anyway and tries to walk away. In a panic, Sam says she slept with Micha. The girls say that it can't be true because he doesn't sleep with outsiders. She says its true and apologizes. Micha claims innocence but Hetty tells Sam about moles on his butt. This is convincing to the group members so Micha claims it is a test. He says that they need to get away from Sam because she is a toxic non-believer. They leave.
Sas and Pete patch things up. Sam, Trevor and Alberta find Flower's brother and email him, pretending to be fellow cult members. They get an email back, which Sam reads to Flower. She gets to hear that her brother loved her very much.
