Ira Klein was Flower's boyfriend in life. He is seen in the episodes Flower's Article and Dumb Deaths in the CBS show.
Biography[]
Ira is first seen in a flashback (Flower's Article), supporting Flower in her suggestion to use the bank robbery money to better the lives of the members of their own commune, as they are also people "in need". However, this idea is immediately shot down as the commune devolves into a shouting match between using the money to help the feral cats of Costa Rica, or narwhals.
In his second appearance (Dumb Deaths), he is seen in walking in the woods with Flower high on drugs. Unbeknownst to him, they were being followed by Alberta, Thorfinn, and Sasappis. He yells to Flower telling her that the bear doesn't want to hug her. Then runs once they see the bear attack Flower. Ira was at the music festival with her prior to Flower dying.
Sometime after Flower's death likely in the early 1970s Ira opened up an organic coffee fair-trade coffee shop named Daisy's Coffee Shop which eventually turned into a franchise which gives tips on bear safety. Honoring his late girlfriend who gave the suggestion about an businesses helping a community. It's implied that by the present day events of Flower's Article that Ira has died since his franchise wasn't worried about Sam revealing his role in the Bank robbery he committed with Flower and other members of the community they were in since the statute of limitations had passed and the franchise wanted a little bit street credit from the robbery.
It's heavily implied a year later in Dumb Deaths that the producers of the show had learned about Flower and Ira from their story going public and it was the reason they wanted to do the segment on Flower. However, the episode nearly didn't happen since the network didn't want another cause of death by an animal on the show and was going to instead have an episode focused on Pete, though that ended up being tossed after an on-site incident. Sam and Jay agreed not to sue if they went back to the original episode plan of covering Flower's death, complete with Sam portraying Flower to make Flower more comfortable with the fact she would be featured on TV. Ira was played by the guy who was set to be Pete and he diverged Ira's actions during Flower's death, disgusting the ghosts since the real Ira never soiled himself at the sight of Flower's body nor had corny dialogue.

- He was brought up in the episode Trevor's Pants saying that he and Flower always had a third. The first was Phyllis and the second was Dorothy who were both blanket hogs.
- In life he would call Flower Daisy because she was his special flower (and because it's a weed and Flower loves weed).
