Halloween 2: The Ghost of Hetty's Past is the fifth episode of Season 2 in the American sitcom Ghosts and the 23rd episode overall. It premiered on October 27, 2022.
Synopsis[]
A séance at Sam and Jay's last-minute Halloween party conjures up a spirit from Hetty's past. Also, Isaac worries Nigel will be turned off by his ghost power.
Plot[]
At the local farmers market, Jay runs into the neighbors, June and Allie. In an attempt to make friends, Jay tells them they are having a Halloween party and invites them. Sam and Jay now have to invite people and plan a party, last minute. Only about five people show up to the party. June is in a topical maid costume and notices a feather duster that would look great with her costume. Jay tells her she can take it.
At the party, Sam decides to have a seance and use the ghost powers to freak people out. During the seance, the ghost of a young Irish woman appears. Sas reveals it is the maid that Hetty's husband was sleeping with. The woman is a maid named Molly. Molly was summoned from heaven. Flower notices that Molly is ho9ldingb the same feather duster that Sam gave June. Sam decides that since she was holding it during the seance, that must mean they need it back to send Molly back to heaven. Jay goes to the other party that June and Allie were attending to get back the feather duster.
Isaac, nervous his stinky ghost power is going to scare off Nigel, attributes the power to Pete. Pete tries to explain to Isaac that if Nigel cant get over it, then he's not right for him. Isaac doesn't seem to agree.
Hetty is upset that Molly went to heaven and she did not. Sam tells her that Molly being there is an opportunity to get closure and possibly ascend. Hetty wants nothing to do with it so Flower, Alberta, and Sam decide to lock them in the vault together and force them to make up. After ambushing the both of them, Flower accidentally locks Sam in the vault. Sam begins to freak out. The ghosts try to find a way to contact Jay. Jay gets the feather duster back from June and Allie and runs away.
Hetty, upset, asks why Sam would lock her in with her husband's "seductress." Molly denies having seduced him, saying Elias pursued her and that she was not interested. She stayed out of fear of losing her job. Sam explains to them that Elias was taking advantage of his position of power as an employer. Molly says she can't blame Hetty for hating her because she knows that Elias was her husband and she loved him. Hetty laughs and says she did not love him, but married him to close a land deal. She states she actually disliked him. Molly and Hetty bond over hating Elias and finally decide that he is the one responsible for their pain and suffering.
Jay arrives home with the feather duster. Thor begins flickering lights in a path to the vault, trying to alert him to Sam's whereabouts. Jay misunderstands the message and starts to walk away. Thor tries to flick the lights again, but is feeling weak. Isaac decides to walk through Jay to get his attention. Isaac apologizes to Nigel and reveals his ghost power. Nigel is confused because he was told that was Pete's power. This manages to get the message through to Jay, who goes and saves Sam.
Sam and Jay begin setting up a seance to send Molly back. Isaac tells Nigel he understands if he is no longer interested in him. Nigel says that he is still interested, but is disappointed he wasn't honest. Jay and Sam begin to do the seance incantation and Molly begins to ascend. Hetty tries to grab on and go with, shouting "don't leave me here with these peasants!" She is unsuccessful.

- There are not many people under the age of forty in a ten-mile radius according to Jay.
- Liam Neeson lives somewhere nearby.
- Hetty once held a seance to impress Mrs. Astor. She realizes that Thor and Isaac were playing tricks on her and the other guests.
- Elias's corpse is still in the vault.
- At first it seems as though Flower has suddenly acquired the ability to affect material objects when she closes the vault door on Sam, but this is because the door is built of the same mystery material as the rest of the space, making it the only thing in the house (so far) that all of the ghosts would be able to move so long as it isn't shut all the way. Note Alberta being unable to help because the handle and automatic lock are made of something mundane.
- This is the second appearance of June and Ally since The Tree.
- This is the first appearance of Molly, though she was mentioned (although not named) before.
- Jay and Sam wear the same costumes that they wore in Halloween.
- There's a flashback to the episode The Vault where they show Pete trying to walk through the vault door.
- This is the first time the concept of a seance is introduced in either the American or UK series.
