"Ghostfellas" is the thirteenth episode of Season 4 in the American sitcom Ghosts and its 63rd episode overall. It aired on February 20, 2025.
Synopsis[]
Jay angers a local restaurateur when he uses a recipe at his restaurant that was given to him by Pete.
Plot[]
At Woodstone Estate, the ghosts gather in the main hall as Pete proudly shares a story about his past, reminiscing about a cherished family tradition—his famous arrabbiata sauce recipe. As he fondly recalls the details, Jay listens intently, eager to bring a new dish to his restaurant's menu. Encouraged by Pete's enthusiasm, Jay decides to test the recipe, unaware that this simple culinary decision will spiral into unexpected chaos.
Meanwhile, in the dining room, Isaac, Alberta, and Trevor engage in a spirited debate over which food would have been their personal last meal. Thorfinn, ever the Viking, declares that fermented shark is the only true delicacy, much to the others’ horror. Just as the discussion reaches its peak, Jay excitedly rushes in, announcing that Pete's arrabbiata sauce is a hit. The ghosts cheer—until a knock at the door interrupts the celebration.
Jay opens the door to find Anthony, an irate local restaurateur, flanked by two imposing men. Anthony accuses Jay of stealing his family's secret sauce recipe and demands answers. Jay, flustered, denies any wrongdoing, but Anthony remains unconvinced, threatening consequences if Jay doesn't remove the dish from his menu. The ghosts, eavesdropping on the confrontation, begin theorizing about Anthony's true intentions. Hetty insists that gentlemen should settle disputes through civil discourse, while Trevor, ever the opportunist, suggests bribery.
Realizing the severity of the situation, Sam and Pete spring into action. Pete is shocked to learn that Anthony's family has deep ties to the mafia—ties that intersect with his own past. As Sam and Pete dig deeper, they uncover a surprising connection: Pete's old travel agency job had been a front for his family's criminal activities, a revelation that shakes him to his core. In the midst of the turmoil, Carol, another ghost with an enigmatic history, steps forward with vital information that shifts the power dynamic in Jay and Sam's favor.
As the tension builds, Jay nervously prepares for a final showdown with Anthony, unsure of how to navigate the brewing conflict. Sam, always quick on her feet, orchestrates a plan to expose Anthony's own shady dealings. With Pete's reluctant assistance, they uncover proof that Anthony's restaurant has been engaging in questionable business practices. Armed with this knowledge, Sam and Jay confront Anthony, presenting him with an ultimatum: back off, or risk exposure.
The standoff reaches a comedic climax as Jay, attempting to appear more intimidating, accidentally spills a pot of arrabbiata sauce all over Anthony's expensive suit. A moment of stunned silence is followed by uproarious laughter from the ghosts, particularly Trevor, who quips that Jay just served up “a spicy situation.” Begrudgingly, Anthony backs down, and Jay's restaurant is saved.
As the dust settles, Pete reflects on his past, grappling with the implications of his family's connections. Sam reassures him that his legacy isn't defined by his family's history, but rather by the good he chooses to do now—even in the afterlife. Meanwhile, the ghosts celebrate Jay's victory, with Alberta playfully suggesting that they open a ghost-run restaurant of their own.
The episode ends on a heartwarming note as Jay, despite everything, decides to keep Pete's arrabbiata sauce on the menu—but this time, he names it after Pete, ensuring that his friend's legacy lives on in a way that truly matters. As the ghosts raise an imaginary toast to friendship, loyalty, and the occasional mafia misunderstanding, the screen fades to black.
