Eleanor Higham was a Georgian noblewoman and the adoptive sister of Kitty. She is cruel and vindictive, resenting Kitty for becoming part of the Higham family as she feels she is the only true Higham.

Biography[]

Eleanor was born to the wealthy, Noble Higham family. She was around the same age as her adopted sister, Kitty (their actresses are the same age). At some point, when they were young, Kitty was adopted by the family (probably when she was a child). Eleanor was very jealous of her sister and mistreated her by tricking Kitty into doing things that would hurt Kitty such as pretending they were playing hide and seek, but would instead leave her outside for an entire day waiting to be found. Eleanor and Kitty's mother died when they were children. Eleanor's resentment towards Kitty had grown to the point that she tricked Kitty into breaking a precious bust of their mother so that Kitty would get punished by their otherwise adoring father, and not allowed to attend a ball. Eleanor didn't want Kitty to attend the ball and tried all kinds of methods to prevent her, like ruining her dress, which led their father to gift Kitty a dress that had belonged to their mother, which only enhanced Eleanor's jealousy.

The girls were to attend balls to meet eligible bachelors and eventually marry. Kitty always looked forward to the balls and was highly enthusiastic about attending together, whereas Eleanor seemed to want to go by herself and become the sole heir of the Higham estates and fortune. This is seen when she objects to her and Kitty sharing the Higham inheritance equally, protesting that she is the only rightful heir. At one point, the Highams host a dinner where their guests bring a pineapple, much to Kitty's delight. Unbeknownst to everyone, Kitty is bitten by a spider and falls ill shortly following dinner. Seeing her sister in peril, Eleanor becomes suddenly remorseful for her wretched behaviour all those years and promises to be a real sister to Kitty when she recovers. Kitty barely hears any of it as she is dazed from her fever, and it never comes to pass as Kitty succumbs to the poison. Eleanor thus gains her previous wish of becoming the sole heir to the Higham fortune and name, eventually marrying and becoming the ancestor of Isabelle Higham and, eventually, Alison Cooper.

Appearance[]

Eleanor was a dark-haired white woman of roughly the same age as Kitty.

Personality[]

Outwardly, Eleanor gave the impression of being a good friend to her adopted sister Kitty, but in truth she was cruel and resented the fact that her father acknowledged Kitty as his own, and intended to split his estate equally between them when she didn't share the same blood. She often "played games" with Kitty which were actually a way of punishing her sister, though Kitty's trusting nature meant that she never realized this, to the extent that Kitty still has an idealized image of Eleanor more than 200 years later (and, being a ghost in Button House, presumably having seen Eleanor's life after her own death). Eleanor also enjoyed gloating about her legitimacy to Kitty, and would state that she was their mother's "true" daughter.

After Kitty's death, she realised that she loved her sister and regretted how she behaved.
